Project Overview

An industry standard process to produce boric acid from commercial borate minerals was selected and developed by Sargon Engineering for client Satbor LLP, in association with WorleyParsons.

The plant was configured to treat 20 tonnes per hour of feed from the scavenger tails of the Satimola potash flotation plant. This boric acid plant was to be developed in close proximity to a potash flotation plant, in order that infrastructure, manpower and utilities be shared between the two plants.

The study scope required Sargon Engineering to produce flowsheets, design criteria, mass balance and capital & operating costs.

Solutions Delivered

Based on the flowsheets and equipment list, as well as consumables and reagent consumption, Sargon Engineering constructed a detailed cost break down for both operating and capital costs. Sargon Engineering was also able to indentify environmental considerations, and make a set of well-informed recommendations for the project.
